A Sad Farewell to Frances Hashimoto
With deep sadness, the Board of Directors informs its membership that one of our valued Board Members, Ms. Frances Hashimoto passed away on November 4, 2012.  A champion for the Little Tokyo community, a leader and supporter of many community organizations and a strong participant in City of Los Angeles activities, she is irreplaceable and will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held on on Saturday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m. at the Aratani Japan America Theatre, 244 S. San Pedro St. in Little Tokyo, under the direction of Fukui Mortuary.

On Sept. 18, in recognition of her career and service to the cultural life of Los Angeles, the City Council voted unanimously to name the intersection at Azusa and Second streets. “Frances Hashimoto Plaza.” The motion was jointly sponsored by Councilmembers Perry and Jose Huizar and passed unanimously.

The plaza dedication ceremony set for Thursday, Nov. 15 at 10 a.m. will proceed as planned.  (via Rafu.com)

Thank you Frances Hashimoto

The Little Tokyo Community Council has been saddened to loose one of its valued members of the Council and the Japanese American community at large, Frances Hashimoto.  As a member of the Board and the vice president, Frances had the important role of representing the interests of the Little Tokyo business as well as other community organizations that she has represented.
We send our condolences to Frances' family and friends.
